Is Mexico Safe?

You have no doubt heard of the recent news on Mexico. Scary headlines everywhere about violence and drug cartel gun fights. It is true. Mexico has drug gangs and violence. It is a huge country, like the Unites States, it has its violent areas and gang problems. It is NOT true that you should be afraid to visit Mexico. The tourist areas remain unaffected by the violence which is localized mostly on the boarder and the non tourist inland areas. Mexico remains the #1 tourist destination by American for many reasons and it will remain #1 beyond the bad and often inflated press. My advise to all my travelers is simple: make smart and safe choices just like you were in the States, do not leave your resorts at night, do not walk off of the resorts on non tourist roadways. There is no difference between safety in Mexico and a visit to Detroit or Compton USA. Use your head and keep yourself safe. I have 2 trips to Mexico planned over the next 2 months. I will still go and I will take my children. Mexico has a lot to offer: its beautiful beaches, rich culture, exciting excursions and friendly people. Travel now and travel often :)
